The Curves of Trafalgar

38cm x 23cm Paper, Wood, Artificial Bushes & Grass, Wood Board, 2019.

The goal of this project was to create an architectural quarter-inch scale model of a trolley bus stop in a park in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I explored the neighborhood and city where it would be located to gain inspiration for my design. I was inspired by the shape of the park and aimed to create a design that incorporated the park’s curves while connecting the park with the stop through shapes and implied lines that guide the viewer through the trolley bus stop into the park.

Hijack Trooper

13cm x 28cm, Paper and Plastic, 2019.

For this project, I looked at the interaction between a product and the customer by designing an action figure and its box using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I researched and analyzed different factors such as typeface and color to help my design pop out alongside many other products. In addition, the box also serves a second function for the buyer. The spaceship on the back and sides can be cut and put together as another toy for the customer to reuse the packaging which is often wasted.

The World Above Us

46cm x 61cm, Charcoal on paper, 2019.

In this magical realist piece, I emphasized the detriment caused by the interaction between the built and the natural environment which is depicted through fish. I use the clouds as ocean waves over which a variety of fish float and jump. In the background, you can see fish being speared by skyscrapers jutting out from the clouds. The fishes' eyes are the light sources and this challenged me to think of how to light up the clouds and the buildings realistically.

The Merge

36cm x 51cm, Pen and India Ink, 2019.

This project shows the destruction made by unsustainable buildings. Our modern world is expanding rapidly while our natural world is suffering. I believe that making buildings more sustainable and eco-friendly is one of the most important ways to address this issue. This artwork was done using pen and ink and shows unclean buildings falling down towards a beautiful world and polluting it with smoke and oil. A black crack across the piece shows how our world is becoming fractured and imbalanced.

Parque Del Cuaderno

76cm x 51cm x 23cm, Pen, Paper, Wood, Artificial Bushes and Grass, Wood Board, Foam Board, Aluminum Wire, Rocks,  2019.

In this 1/4 inch scale model I created a park out of the elements of a sketchbook. Each section has layers stacked like pages and the sections are interconnected through the rings that bind this design together like a sketchbook. The park allows visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Ecuador’s snow-dusted volcanoes as they learn about some of the most important Ecuadorians in the country's history. My design addresses the lack of public spaces for visitors to appreciate the country's beauty.
